The Brass Gates [ Play
Narrated and Animated Movie ! ] One of the most striking features of the Lobby is the gates on the south side, leading to the chamber of the House of Lords.
Decorated with roses, thistles and shamrocks, they were designed by Pugin and made by Hardman. They are constructed solely of brass, each gate weighing three-quarters of a ton. Pugin was so anxious to get the design right that he constructed a full-scale model in wax and wood.
