The Visit of Emperor Charles V to Henry VIII [ Play
Narrated and Animated Movie ! ] This scene commemorates the visit of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain, to Henry VIII in 1520. This happened just before Henry left England to meet with François I of France, at the Field of the Cloth of Gold.
Charles came over to meet Henry, and perhaps more importantly, Cardinal Wolsey who had negotiated England's participation in the European Peace Treaty two years previously. The scene shows them at Windsor with St George's Chapel in the left hand background. In consequence of Charles' visit, Henry's subsequent meeting with François was something of a gorgeous sham. Henry was already looking beyond a treaty with France.
My cousin François of France and I are in perfect accord: he wants Milan, and so do I.
