The Victoria Tower was completed in 1858. Measuring 323 ft in height, it was for many years the tallest square building in the world.

It is used for the storage of the records of Parliament, amounting to more than three million documents, and including the master copies of all Acts of Parliament since 1497. From the flagpole the Union flag flies from 10.00 am to sunset on sitting days, as well as on other special days, such as Royal Birthdays.
