This octagonal desk is one of several such to the design of A.W. Pugin which are to be found throughout the Palace of Westminster. It is in such elegant, functional furniture that Pugin's true genius can best be seen, according to some opinions. He was particularly fond of octagonal tables. Two more elaborate examples can be seen in the Princes' Chamber.
